The final entry list for the CHIO Aachen is now official — and it reads like the cast of a Cannes blockbuster. As always in the Soers, this is no longer just another horse show. More like a world summit disguised as a weekend of jumping. Even the “secondary” classes are shaping up like championship finals.

Germany wants to shine at home

À la maison, les Allemands arrivent avec une profondeur d’effectif redoutable. Christian Ahlmann, Marcus Ehning, Richard Vogel, Christian Kukuk, Sophie Hinners ou encore Daniel Deusser et tous les autres (puisqu’ils sont 14 au total) composent une équipe capable d’occuper les avant-postes tout au long du week-end.

But in Aachen, every German rider also carries the weight of expectation. The home crowd at the Soers does not do moderation.

La Belgique avance avec ses valeurs sûres

La Belgique présentera cinq cavaliers : Pieter Devos, Jérôme Guery, Nicola Philippaerts, Abdel Saïd et Gilles Thomas.

Ermitage Kalone est de sortie, Gilles Thomas fera évidemment partie des cavaliers les plus suivis du week-end, tandis que Nicola Philippaerts alignera notamment Katanga vh Dingeshof. Jérôme Guery lui jettera Qartouche de la Pomme d’Or dans le grand bain. Devos et Said seront aussi présents avec leurs valeurs sûres.

An experienced selection. One that clearly belongs among the sport’s elite nations.

France arrives with experience… and momentum

The French delegation lands in Aachen with serious firepower: Simon Delestre, Kevin Staut and Julien Épaillard bring years of top-level experience. But the younger generation is no longer asking for permission. Nina Mallevaey and Antoine Ermann arrive in Charlemagne’s city carrying the confidence built through major performances in recent weeks.

And judging by current form, the veterans probably won’t need to babysit anyone.

The world stars are all here

The United States travels with Kent Farrington, McLain Ward and Laura Kraut. Britain counters with Scott Brash and Ben Maher. Switzerland can rely on Martin Fuchs and Steve Guerdat to guide those discovering Aachen for the first time, while Sweden places its hopes on the rather isolated Henrik von Eckermann and Glamour Girl.

In short: nobody left their top horses at home.

And as always in Aachen, the ultimate judge remains that gigantic German arena, perfectly capable of turning a “straightforward” round into complete disaster in less than three fences.
