Richard Vogel, new boss of a world ranking put through the shaker

Publié par Sébastien Boulanger le 03/09/2026

At 29, Richard Vogel has just cleared another bar. The German takes the throne of world showjumping for the first time in his career, ahead of Kent Farrington. Behind him, the World Championships in Aachen have shaken things up: Steve Guerdat soars, Piergiorgio Bucci and Daniel Deusser burst into the Top 10, while several regulars head the other way.

Vogel Takes the Keys

This time, Richard Vogel has no one left in front of him.

econd in the world last month, the German takes the lead in the new Longines Ranking with 3 376 points, ahead of 3 303 pour Kent Farrington. A first in the career of the 2025 European champion, who reaches the summit after 28 consecutive months spent inside the Top 10.

When you want to become world number one, there are worse programmes.

Guerdat takes twelve floors

Behind him, things are seriously moving.

Scott Brash gains one place and completes the podium. But the move of the month belongs to Steve Guerdat : le Suisse passe de la 16e à la 4e place, porté notamment par son titre de champion du monde individuel décroché à Aix-la-Chapelle. Shane Sweetnam rops from third to fifth, ahead of Ben Maher, now sixth.

Another big push: Piergiorgio Bucci jumps from 14th to 7th place nd enters the world Top 10 for the first time. Just behind him, Daniel Deusser moves from 15th to 8th, while McLain Ward climbs from 12th to 9th.

Nina Mallevaey lips from eighth to tenth place but remains the highest-ranked female rider in the world. Julien Épaillardmeanwhile, drops out of the Top 10 and now sits 11th..

Further down, Daniel Bluman, sixième le mois dernier, tombe au 13e rang. Christian Kukuk, tenth last month, drops to 20th. And on the Belgian side, the bill is a little saltier: Gilles Thomas, still seventh in August, falls to 16th place et quitte donc le Top 15.
