And who better than the reigning 2025 overall champion to do it?\u00a0Gilles Thomas<\/strong>\u00a0wasted no time, claiming the opening class (1.60m speed) with Chuck Marienshof Z. A clean, convincing win \u2014 and already a statement for the rest of the Chinese weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was already at ease in Shanghai last year, finishing second in the 2025 Grand Prix.\nThis time, Gilles Thomas goes one better.\nNo feeling-out phase for the rider from Meise. Right from the first major class of the weekend, Thomas set the benchmark. Riding Chuck Marienshof Z (Colestus x Emerald)<\/strong>, winner of the 2025 Stockholm Grand Prix, he delivered a round that was both fast and controlled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a speed class where every stride matters, Thomas did what he does best: tight lines, a forward rhythm, no hesitation. The kind of round that tells you everything, a rider full of confidence, and a horse right at the peak of its game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pedigree says it all: Bamako de Muze x Emerald<\/strong>Blood, power, and plenty left in the tank.\nAnother clear sign: Stephex arrives in Shanghai with depth, and horses ready to compete at the very top, even the younger ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
