A victory that feels both like time\u2019s revenge and the promise of an ambitious summer ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After two rounds of relentless intensity, Mexico and Germany found themselves tied. On one side stood a remarkably solid Mexican team. To find the last Mexican triumph in Rome\u2019s Nations Cup, you have to go all the way back to 1948. Another era. Almost another planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That year, Humberto Mariles<\/strong>, Rub\u00e9n Uriza<\/strong> and Alberto Ramos<\/strong> not only won in Rome, they went on to claim Olympic gold, both individually and as a team.\nNothing less.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andres Azcarraga<\/strong> and Contendros 2<\/strong> played their part in the perfect opening round. And Pasquel<\/strong>, as it turned out, provided the finishing signature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Great Britain completed the podium on a final score of 4\/4, while Italy finished fourth in front of its home crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Azzurri will take particular encouragement from the second-round performances of Giacomo Casadei<\/strong> with Marbella du Chablis<\/strong> and Giampiero Garofalo<\/strong> with Querido van \u2019t Ruytershof<\/strong>both of whom delivered faultless rounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frustration for Belgium, testing ground for France<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On paper, Belgium looked well-equipped for success. Three of the four musketeers who had helped secure the European title in A Coru\u00f1a were present in Rome.\nBut between promise and reality, there are sometimes a few rails in the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first round quickly cooled the Red Devils\u2019 ambitions. Only Emilie Conter<\/strong> found the right formula with the outstanding Portobella van de Fruitkorf<\/strong>, producing Belgium\u2019s sole clear round. Behind, Nicola Philippaerts<\/strong> and Gadget Mouche<\/strong> saw their twelve-fault score become the discard result, while Gilles Thomas<\/strong> (Happy Landais<\/strong>) and Thibeau Spits<\/strong> (Impress-K van\u2019t Kattenheye Z<\/strong>each added four faults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The response came in the second act. Philippaerts steadied the ship with a four-fault round, but the damage had already been done. Conter left a rail on the ground this time, Thomas endured a more difficult outing with twelve faults, while Spits finished on a high note with an excellent clear round. Enough to secure fifth place, but well short of the ambitions of a team that had clearly aimed higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For France, \u00c9douard Coup\u00e9rie<\/strong> arrived in Rome with observation rather than results as his primary objective. Mission partially accomplished.\nWith sixteen faults after the first round, the French riders spent the second round watching from ringside alongside Sweden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nina Mallevaey<\/strong> delivered the most encouraging performance aboard Nikka van den Bisschop<\/strong>, returning to competition after several months away. Marie Demonte<\/strong> and Forban de B\u00e9liard<\/strong> showed plenty of promise despite two avoidable mistakes, while M\u00e9gane Moissonnier<\/strong> and Crooner Tame<\/strong> experienced an unusually difficult day with three rails down. Nicolas Sers<\/strong> and Eleven de Riverland<\/strong> also let a few valuable points slip away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They finished ninth in a Nations Cup that ultimately served as a full-scale testing laboratory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
