In a high-tension Dickies Arena, the World Cup Final delivered a scenario worthy of expectations: suspense, twists, and a breathless final act. At the end of this controlled chaos, Kent Farrington was crowned on home soil after a three-way battle with Daniel Deusser and Steve Guerdat. A Texan night that smelled of gunpowder… and glory.

Even before the bell, things are already rocking

La tension n’attend pas la cloche. Avant même le premier saut, deux forfaits viennent secouer la hiérarchie : Johan-Sebastian Gulliksen renonce, imité, surprise XL, par Eiken Sato. Le Japonais, alors 4e provisoire, jette l’éponge : cheval pas suffisamment “droit” pour aborder le dernier combat.

First round: pushing hard, rails falling

The time allowed is tight, almost vicious. The result: riders push… and rails fall. Marc Dilasser lights the first spark with a clean, inspired clear round on Arioto du Gevres, while Jordy van Massenhove delivers a similar round without the speed, picking up six time penalties despite a faultless effort that earns applause.

Derrière, la piste fait des dégâts. Abdel Said lâche dix points, Lillie Keenan en concède huit, et Jacob Pope s’enfonce avec douze unités. Dans ce chaos, les têtes d’affiche limitent la casse : Kevin Staut et Steve Guerdat sortent avec quatre points chacun, restant dans le match.

Pendant que certains subissent, d’autres flairent le bon coup. Katherine Dinan signe un sans-faute majuscule avec Out of the Blue SCF et remonte à la quatrième place provisoire, imitée par Martin Fuchs et Richard Vogel, eux aussi impeccables. 

Yuri Mansur et Rene Dittmer, avec un point de temps chacun, s’invitent dans le top 10.

Mais celui qui change vraiment la donne, c’est Daniel Deusser. Sans faute, malgré quelques s coups de semonce au son du bois, il repasse devant Guerdat et met la pression sur Kent Farrington.

The American, until then a solid leader, makes a mistake with Greya at an oxer. Suddenly, his lead shrinks. Before the second round, Farrington sits on four faults, Deusser on seven, and Guerdat on eight. Three riders within four points, the kind of scenario that forgives nothing.

Second round: money time

Twenty riders return, but the final quickly turns into a showdown.

Jordy van Massenhove confirms Belgium’s strength with another clear round, again slightly penalized on time, but sealing a perfectly controlled first final. At the top, Richard Vogel reminds everyone he’s a contender with a second clear on Ganster Montdésir, while Lillie Keenan and Abdel Said also bounce back.

Puis la tension grimpe d’un cran avec les six derniers cavaliers. Kevin Staut ouvre le bal en patron avec un sans-faute sur Visconti, prenant la tête provisoire. Derrière lui, Katherine Dinan vit un moment suspendu : Out of the Blue SCF saute avec le cœur, enchaîne un deuxième sans-faute et s’offre un week-end presque parfait.

“Elle a tout donné… elle était tout simplement spectaculaire. .”

Rene Dittmer fait tout aussi bien, mais une seconde plus lent, ce qui laisse Dinan devant.

The turning point comes when Steve Guerdat enters the ring. A three-time Final winner, the Swiss rider sees his hopes collapse with two faults from Iashin Sitte. The door slams shut.

Reste alors Daniel Deusser. L’Allemand se fait peur sur le vertical d’entrée, mais Otello de Guldenboom se reprend et boucle un nouveau sans-faute.

« My horse jumped three, even four fantastic rounds… I’m very impressed by him. »

Everything now comes down to the final ride.

Farrington, nerves of steel

Kent Farrington entre en piste avec trois points d’avance. les choses sont simples une barre et le titre s’envole. La première manche est dans toutes les têtes.

But Greya doesn’t flinch. The grey mare turns into a machine, flying over the fences—precise, fast, relentless. Clear round. the end.

The world number two (likely to reclaim the number one armband next month) savors the moment:

“Everything came together… it’s been a fantastic weekend, and I’m very happy to finish with the win.”

He admits the pressure was immense:
“I would have preferred to come in with a rail in hand, but that wasn’t the case… so all the pressure was on us, and she jumped incredibly.”
And true to his style, cold and clinical:
“I was focused. Just focused on my job, on what I had to do.”

Lucid as ever, Deusser admits:
“When there’s only one round left and you’re in the lead, you start to dream a little about the win… but I’m also very happy with second place.”

An American-style final

Derrière Farrington, Daniel Deusser s’offre une deuxième place pleine de promesses, tandis que Katherine Dinan complète un podium chargé d’émotion, elle qui avoue encore être « un peu sous le choc » après un week-end parfait. Rappelant que « Les deux garçons à côté d’elle l’inspirent tous les jours dans son travail et qu’elle a pour eux un respect total. » The dream is becoming a habit, as the American repeats a feat (double clear in the final round) she had already achieved in 2025.

Rene Dittmer échoue au pied du podium, juste devant Kevin Staut, solide cinquième après une campagne régulière. Côté belge, Abdel Said termine neuvième après avoir navigué toute la semaine dans le top 10, tandis que Jordy van Massenhove boucle une première réussie avec une quinzième place et une dernière journée très propre.

Suspense, nerves, razor-sharp lines, and a captivated crowd—though, admittedly, still too sparse in the Dickies Arena for the final day, and nearly absent during the prize ceremony (champions deserve respect until the very end). Still, Fort Worth delivered the kind of final we love—and a winner who, rather than dominating outright, held his nerve all the way.
