Maher Shops at Kutscher’s: Express Recycling for an Impatient Champion

Publié par Sébastien Boulanger le 15/04/2026

After losing two key horses (Exit Remo and Faltic HB) , Ben Maher went straight to the yard of Marco Kutscher to restock with ready-made talent. The result: two seasoned recruits built for the very top level—and a clear message: this time, there’s no interest in rebuilding slowly.

Ready to go

When you lose two major horses, there are two options: invest in the next generation or buy proven winners. Maher made his choice.

In his sights: Catelly, a 14-year-old Holsteiner gelding (Catalido x Ephebe For Ever La Silla). A battle-hardened campaigner ticking every box—consistency, experience, and above all, composure in team competition.

Runner-up in the Nations League in Abu Dhabi this February with a double clear, Catelly had already delivered in 2025:

  • 2nd in the Dublin Cup (another double clear),
  • Team victory at Hickstead, again without a hint of pressure.

In short, the kind of horse that doesn’t discover pressure, he absorbs it.

Aventador S: the (explosive) icing on the cake

But Maher didn’t stop there. Also in the basket: Aventador S, a 13-year-old Oldenburg stallion (Armitage 2 x Charming Boy 38).

A slightly different profile, but just as lethal.

  • Winner of a 1.50m class earlier this year,
  • more importantly, winner of the 5 stars 1.60m Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Madrid last season.

A horse that knows how to finish, and, crucially, how to win.

Kutscher sells, Maher accelerates

For Marco Kutscher, the Global stop in Miami marked a turning point. He arrived with these two aces and left without them. Deal done, page turned.

Maher, on the other hand, walks away with two horses that have little, if anything, left to learn. The objective is crystal clear: remain immediately competitive on the five-star circuit, without any need for a bedding-in period.
